About us

The rest of our life is the future.

The responsibility principle.

For nature, mankind and the environment.

Long-term, far-reaching, strong, effective, durable, future-orientated. Many words can be used to attempt to define a particular term: sustainability. And somehow this term remains static, shapeless, lifeless and hackneyed.

We prefer to talk about the principle of responsibility. A responsibility we are happy to take on and live out − for nature, for mankind and the environment. We do this in small measures as well as large. We pay special attention to the manufacturing of products that are becoming ever more environmentally friendly, are continuously thinking of how we can reduce the negative effects on the environment of our internal and external processes and how to establish environmentally compatible standards for our branch. We examine the well-being and further development of our employees every day. And we make every effort to encourage our business partners and suppliers to also do their utmost to act as a role model with regard to employees, and society, environmental and climate protection, fairness and consistency just as we do. In addition to this we act according to the ten universally acknowledged principles of the most important international business network for sustainable globalisation – the “Global Compact of the United Nations”. As one of the many companies taking part worldwide, we have undertaken to integrate human rights, environmental protection, work standards and anti-corruption measures in our business activities.

This is why we take a closer look at everything we do, plan and implement, listen with care and act more responsibly and always think about the consequences of what we do. We refer to this as − Sustainable Corporate Responsibility. We have already taken many important steps in the programme since 2011. Creating added value and thereby also improving the sustainability of kaiserkraft in six areas of action*:

Purchasing

Logistics

Marketing

Resources | Climate

Employees

Society

As part of the SCORE programme, we review our responsibility again each year and set ourselves further ambitious goals, check our progress regularly and develop new standards. This is the only way that we can make our planet a bit better and greener in future.

In the words of Mark Twain “Plan for the future because that’s where you are going to spend the rest of your life.”

*The fields of activity are derived from the ten generally acknowledged principles of Global Compact.

Like mother, like daughter.

You can read more about our activities and the facts and figures behind them in the TAKKT* report on sustainability for 2019.

In our sustainable business strategy, we have formulated the holistic aspiration of making the working world of the future more sustainable. Reducing CO2 is an important component of our overall sustainability commitment. We laid the foundation for the path to CO2 reduction in 2021 by balancing the greenhouse gas emissions of all kaiserkraft business units according to the GHG Protocol Standard for the first time. Several ISO 50001 certifications of kaiserkraft sites additionally create transparency about our energy consumption and use, enabling us to continuously improve our energy efficiency.

Scope 1 includes all emissions that we ourselves cause through the combustion of energy sources at our sites, for example via our company cars. Scope 2 includes all emissions caused by the generation of energy purchased from external suppliers, such as electricity. Under Scope 3, we group together those emissions that occur before (upstream, such as transport emissions from logistics companies) or after (downstream, such as the product use phase) our business activities. As we only have a minor influence on Scope 3 emissions, these are not fully determined at the current time.

We use the carbon footprint to identify our reduction potential. Based on the results of the carbon footprinting, we are already implementing initial projects and measures to sustainably reduce the CO2 emissions caused. Particularly in our marketing and logistics activities, which are major drivers of emissions in our business, we are already offsetting the CO2 emissions caused by supporting certified climate protection projects.
