Steering rings

Turntable steering mechanisms need a steering ring as a connection between the vehicle frame and bogie. It needs to be able to withstand all sorts of loads. It is all the more important that the steering ring is high quality in order to prevent wear. In short: just like the steering rings in our product range!

The one ring – in top quality: steering rings for all types of transport equipment

Do you know what turntable steering is? It is a component that makes it possible to change the direction of e.g. turntable trucks or heavy goods trailers. On multi-axle vehicles that feature turntable steering, steering rings form part of the front axle, to which the drawbar is connected in a way that allows it to move. It is easy to steer around corners by swivelling the rigid axle – and turntables provide the necessary rotation. With max. loads of up to 50 tonnes, these components are subject to a fair amount of wear and tear when used all day, every day. To ensure that goods can be transported in your company smoothly, we have the spare parts necessary for the turntable steering in your items of transport equipment. The Wheels and castors category at KAISER+KRAFT awaits with a diverse range of steering rings.

A small tale of turntables

The world of steering rings is a science unto itself. Anything that was designed to navigate bulky loads from A to B must be fine tuned like a Swiss watch. Therefore, pay careful attention to each individual dimension when choosing the right steering ring for you.

Our webshop has a range of high quality ball bearing races in various designs with different axial load bearing capacities and dimensions suitable for transport equipment that runs at up to 30 km/h. The higher the required maximum load, the more solid the steering race, and the higher its weight as well. The max. axial load determines the structural characteristics of the steering ring, with the most important listed here:

  • Flange diameter

  • Outer diameter upper ring

  • Overall height

  • Inner diameter lower ring

  • Inner diameter upper ring

  • Hole circle diameter, lower ring

  • Hole circle diameter, upper ring

There's something to watch out for: in terms of the flange diameter and the inner diameter of the upper ring, the components are subject to generous manufacturing tolerances.

As you can see, there is a lot to get right when buying a steering ring. And where there is so much to consider, competent advice helps. What can we do for you? Talk to us. We are happy to be there for you.
